Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
