Officers mentioned they were contacted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.

A senior representative commented the attack left him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
