A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
